LABORATORY

TANTAL relies on an Analytical and Quality Control Laboratory which guarantees the manufacture of a product that complies with the characteristics required by the client as well as permitting the development of new products.

Our Chemical and Metallurgical laboratory allows us to conduct all specified process controls in the different stages and quality control of the finished product.

This laboratory is equipped with the necessary technology to undertake all the tests that permit us to guarantee the compliance to specifications of quality control of our products A representative sample from each batch manufactured is sent to our metallurgic laboratory where the following tests are carried out:

Destructive Testing:
» Structure
» Hardness Testing

Non-destructive Testing:
» Density
» Magnetic Saturation
» Coercive force
» Fault detection.

Structural Analysis:
» Allows us to control the structure of the part: crystal distribution, presence of porosity and the phase formation of the structure.
» This is undertaken with an electronic microscope where ground surfaces are observed to a magnification of 1500

Hardness Determination:
»This test allows us to determine the hardness of the part to meet with the specification.
»This is undertaken with a 3 Kg Vickers Hardness Meter

Density Determination:
» This test permits us to know the density of the part, compare the theoretical and determine if the process of sintering was completed correctly

Magnetic Saturation Determination:
» This test is performed by a Magnetic Saturator and permits us, through percentile data readout of the magnetic cobalt in the part, determine if the same has been sintered correctly and the carbon value is that specified.

Coercive Force Determination:
» This test provides information that approaches the relation between magnetic cobalt and the size of the Tungsten carbide crystals contained in the part. This information allows us to know if the temperature of the sintered part was correctly applied.
»This test is performed by a Coercive Force Meter.

Fault Detection:
» This is performed using an Ultrasonic Device which permits us to detect internal faults in the part.
» This allows us to carry out a control of 100% of the requested batch
» This is a fundamental test in quality control of large parts, such as bearings and wires.
